Whole-House Repiping Flagler Beach
Second or third pinhole leak this year? Rusty water, weak pressure, or gray polybutylene pipe in the attic? A repipe replaces the supply lines in the house so you stop paying for one leak after another.
When Repiping Makes More Sense Than Another Repair
One leak is a repair. Two or three leaks on the same plumbing system is usually a pattern. Once copper starts pinholing or an old pipe material reaches the end of its life, spot repairs become a bill that keeps coming back, along with the water damage each one causes.
Many Palm Coast and Flagler Beach homes built from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s were plumbed during the years polybutylene was widely used. That gray plastic pipe is known for failing at fittings without warning, and many insurers ask about it. Older Flagler Beach homes may still have galvanized steel that rusts from the inside and chokes down water pressure.
A repipe replaces the supply lines from the main shut-off to every fixture. Drains are a separate system and are not usually part of a standard repipe.
Not sure what pipe you have? Look at the line coming out of the water heater and in the attic. Gray plastic stamped PB is polybutylene. Dull gray metal with threaded joints is likely galvanized.

PEX or Copper?
Both are approved by code and both work well. The right choice depends on budget, the house and your preference.
PEX
Flexible, fewer fittings, faster to install and usually less expensive. Resistant to scale and corrosion and the most common choice for repipes today.
Copper
Long track record and rigid, clean runs. Costs more in material and labor, and water chemistry can still cause pinholes over time.
Partial Repipe
Sometimes only one section, like the line under the slab or a single bathroom group, needs replacing. A camera and pressure tests help decide.
What to Expect During a Repipe
Most single-family repipes take one to three days, and in many cases water is restored each evening. The plumber opens small access holes in drywall to run the new lines, then the holes are patched once the system passes a pressure test and inspection.
Furniture near access points gets moved and covered. Ask in advance whether drywall patching and texture are included or quoted separately.

Repiping Cost in Flagler Beach & Palm Coast
Size of the home, number of bathrooms, attic access and pipe material drive the price.
One section or bathroom group, or rerouting a line out of the slab.
Typical two to three bathroom single-family home, with permit.
Same home in copper. Larger homes and difficult access cost more.
Ranges are typical local planning numbers, not quotes. The licensed contractor’s written estimate after an on-site look is what counts.
Repiping Questions in Flagler Beach
How long does a whole-house repipe take?
Most homes take one to three days of plumbing work, plus time for inspection and drywall patching.
Will I have water during the repipe?
Usually, yes, at least in the evenings. The plumber can tell you the plan for your house before work starts.
Do I have to replace polybutylene pipe?
There is no law requiring it, but polybutylene is known for sudden failures and some insurers will not write or renew a policy with it. Replacing it removes that risk.
Is PEX safe for drinking water?
Yes. PEX used for potable water is certified for that use and is approved under Florida plumbing code.
Do I need a permit to repipe?
Yes. A repipe requires a plumbing permit and inspection, which the licensed plumber pulls as part of the job.
